Why cookies?

This cookie explanation has been prepared in collaboration with industry parties and discussed with the Dutch regulator OPTA.

Most sites use cookies to provide more service when visiting websites. These are useful techniques to collect and make use of information. Websites become easier in use. For example, cookies ensure that you can stay logged in on a website or your preferences are remembered, such as location and language settings. Also sites can keep track of your online shopping. Website owners can see through cookies how often their sites - and what pages - are viewed by visitors. Furthermore, some cookies make it possible to track surfing habits. For example, sites and advertisers get to know something about your preferences so they can show more relevant ads. Ads are in most cases required to finance the website. Thanks to cookies, ads are tailored to meet your own interests.

Cookies are stored on your computer and can be removed at any time. This is simple  to do. Click on one of the icons below to go to the manual of your browser directly. Remember that after you delete cookies on some websites, you will need to set your preferences again or you will need to log in again.
